If you’re reading this, it’s because you’ve been watching me experience a serious reinvention of self over the past several years. The past two years, I’ve been quieter on social media, and I haven’t been blogging. This was due in part to being blocked creatively, and in part due to healing (maybe those two things travel together often).
I’m not reaching out to say–GOOD NEWS! Healing’s all done. Instead, I’m reaching out to let you know I’m now in a place where I feel well enough to start engaging again. I’m in the midst of a big writing project. I’m enjoying teaching yoga at my local kundalini studio. And, I’m still working part-time for San Diego County as a psychiatric PA.
This past year, I’ve considered and made movement toward a few different career shifts. It’s been interesting because I’m operating in a new way, making decisions from the heart space instead of culture’s template, or what my brain thinks is a smart idea…which if you’re here, you know career is just my latest appendage to toss into the wood chipper of the heart.
Here’s the thing about wood chippers–they break things down to bits and because of this, my progress has felt slow and clumsy to me. But, slow and clumsy have led me to a new confidence in my path. It’s not the confidence of knowing I’m “right” or “smart.” It’s the confidence of knowing I’m moving in the direction of freedom.
From this space, it feels aligned to start a small coaching practice. Life coaching, at its best, is an exercise in giving one space to explore. It’s different than therapy in that there are no treatment goals. It’s not directive. After sitting in the prescriber’s chair for more than a decade, I find that particularly refreshing for all involved.
Most suffering in our culture comes from having the wild (our true nature) socialized out of us. The path to recovering that wild is different for each person. Coaching is a tool to help uncover the path.
I’m interested in coaching folks:
- Wanting to engage or re-engage with creativity, whether that be as an artist or through living a creative life,
- Suffering from professional burnout, or
- Searching for a new definition or experience of the spiritual.
If you know anyone who might be interested in coaching, I’d much appreciate if you’d pass along my information. I’m looking to take on four clients within the next month, so there’s not a huge availability, but I’ll likely be growing my practice over the next year so more spots will open up.
Thank you for the various ways you’ve shown love and support to me through a time of intense change and growth. I’m very blessed to have you.
Much love,
Michelle
